Get involved

An hour a week is genuinely enough.

Most of our volunteers started with one shift they were not sure about. Pick a role below, or scroll to the form and tell us what you are good at. We will find the fit.

Rows of planted garden beds and a shared shelter at a neighborhood garden

Six open volunteer roles.

Every role is trained, and nobody works a shift alone on their first day. Background checks are covered by us for the roles that need one.

Pantry shelf host

3 hours, once a week

Walk alongside neighbors as they shop the shelves, restock as things run low and keep the room welcoming.

Tutor

2 hours, one afternoon a week

Sit with two to four students on homework and reading. We train you and you are never alone in the room.

Garden steward

4 hours a month, April to October

Open the gate, keep the shared beds watered and help first season gardeners get their plots going.

Friendly visitor

1 hour a week

Visit the same neighbor every week for conversation, a card game or a walk around the block.

Driver

Half a day, twice a month

Pick up donated food from the grocery stores on Tuesday mornings and deliver boxes to homebound neighbors.

Behind the scenes

Flexible, from home

Bookkeeping, grant writing, photography, repairs, translation. Tell us what you are good at.

Giving

What a gift actually buys.

Every dollar given here is spent here. The amounts below are placeholders, so put your own real costs against them before you launch.
